Often students enter junior high with the mindset that they are unable to achieve success. It is the primary objective of the teachers to have students realize their full potential.
Similar to other divisions, the ratio for junior high is an average of 6:1 in language arts and math, and an average of 12:1 in integrative subjects.
Students are taught subjects approved by Alberta Education with an emphasis on the core subjects. The students are provided with a strategies class that reinforces concepts and teaches organizational and study skills.
Writing classes are taught in the student computer lab using computers to eliminate the frustration that some students experience with the writing process. SMART boards are used to assist teachers with creating lessons that are dynamic and have the capability to address each learning style.
Students in grade 9 write the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs).
